Chamber members elected a Vice President and four new Council members to lead the organisation in 2016 at the Annual General Meeting on 27 January at the Chamber’s offices in Governors Square.
The new Council includes: President Paul Pearson, President-Elect Kyle Broadhurst, Vice President Paul Byles, Secretary Colin Reid, Treasurer Wayne Cowan and Councillors Gregg Anderson, Roz Griffiths, Victoria Hew, Christopher Kirkconnell, James O’Brien and Gary Rutty and Immediate Past President Barry Bodden.
In his acceptance speech, President Paul Pearson thanked the membership and promised that “the elected Council will stand up and speak out for our members and the wider business community whenever necessary. We will always consult with the membership first. Chamber positions will be based on information and facts, and we will not hesitate to make our positions known to policy makers and the press. We will continue to support activities and actions towards Government reform, reducing bureaucracy and lowering the cost of doing business.” he said, addressing more than 50 members and guests including the Councillor to the Minister of Home Affairs and Health and the Minister of Financial Services, Commerce and Environment Mr. Roy McTaggart.
