Over 80 professional leaders and students celebrated their mentoring relationship at the Mentoring Cayman Luncheon at the Ritz-Carlton on Wednesday, 24 February. Launched in 2002, Mentoring Cayman, a partnership with the Ministry of Community Affairs, Youth & Sports, is a youth initiative which pairs high achieving students with leaders in the business community.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by Chamber President Paul Pearson, and Hon. Osbourne Bodden, Minister of Community Affairs, Youth & Sports. Minister Bodden congratulated the students on their success so far and went on to encourage them to stay focused, stay committed, and “name it and claim it”.

Keynote Speaker, 2015 YCLA recipient Mrs. Kellie McGee-Sandy shared heartfelt stories of how her success is attributed to the important mentors in her in life and addressed the students as “Cayman’s next generation of leaders”. Kellie herself was a 2004 graduate of the Mentoring Cayman programme and 2015 Leadership Cayman programme graduate.

The Chamber would like to express our gratitude to sponsors Caribbean Alliance Insurance Company, Cayman Leasing, Endless Energy and Rocky's Diamond Gallery. Mentoring Cayman would not be the success that it is today without the generous support from organisations such as these that contribute not only their time, but donations to better equip students to develop the skills needed to become Cayman’s next generation of great leaders.
