The 50th anniversary celebration of Caribbean Utilities Company (CUC) was a tremendous success during the Chamber of Commerce organised Business After Hours. 150 people arrived for the occasion which took place in the centre of the Caribbean Plaza parking lot, under a gazebo decorated with the yellow-and-green colours of CUC.
Chamber President Paul Pearson and CEO Wil Pineau delivered brief remarks congratulating CUC on their triumphant achievement, heralding their successes and development, as well as offering them praise for their fantastic efforts during the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan back in 2004.
From CUC, Mr. Richard Hew took to the stage for, what he jokingly described as, the longest speech of the evening, in which the CUC President and CEO delivered some heartfelt remarks about the company, their employees, and loyal customers.
Richard also took this time to present donations to five local charities, all of whom received CI$3000. The following charities were: Meals on Wheels, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The PIN Programme, Feed Our Future Cayman, and the Department of Children and Family Services.
The final speech of the evening was delivered by Mr. David Ritch, Chairman of CUC’s Board of Directors, who invited the 150 attendees to raise their glasses in toast to a hopeful future fifty years of service.
CUC also offered six CI$50 gift certificates which were claimed by lucky raffle winners, with the top prize of a dinner-for-two at The Bistro also being snapped up.
The CUC Business After Hours was a wonderful evening, during which well-deserved celebrations were shared among the large attending crowd.
