St. Ignatius Catholic School are seeking financial support for a "Music Exchange" to Scotland.
Spanning both the Primary and High schools there are 12 musical ensembles including 3 Choirs, Training Band, Concert Band, Swing Band, Saxophone Ensemble, String Orchestra, Brass Quintet and Steel Pans. During the week there are 24 rehearsals before school, at lunch times and after school.
The calendar of the Music Department is full of performances during which our students showcase their abilities. The Choir and Concert Band have performed at the annual Rotary Club Christmas Tree Lighting, the Choirs often sing during school Masses and also for Parish events such as Confirmation and First Holy Communion. Students also participate in the Orchestra at the annual School Musical Production.
The Swing Band are regularly asked to perform at corporate and fundraising events across Cayman.
Soloists perform at the local National Children’s Festival of the Arts and have had a lot of success in the Young Musician of the Year Competition.
For the past 3 years St Ignatius Concert band and High School Choir have participated in the Private Schools Festival and benefitted from the instruction of world renown musical professionals.
