Off The Beaten Track Ultra-Marathon and Relay Attracts Runners for 8th Annual Race

Sole Sisters 2016 female team winners

The 8th annual Off the Beaten Track 50k ultra-marathon and relay, one of the most challenging athletic events in the Cayman Islands’ sporting calendar, will be taking place on Sunday February 26th, 2017.

Kenneth Krys, founder of KRyS Global and race founder is encouraging teams to sign up, promoting the importance of corporate bonding through group activities which both challenge the individual member and encourage a sense of teamwork.

Registration for the race is now open at www.offthebeatentrack.ky/registration/ and registration fees are USD $300 for a relay team and USD $100 for individuals.

“This race represents the unique challenge of a 50km ultra-marathon or relay through tropical bush, sandy beaches and the back roads of Grand Cayman. The race is divided up into six legs of 8km which allows relay teams to tackle the course in shorter distances that are more suitable to the average runner,” Krys said.

“With many people making resolutions for the New Year, this race presents the perfect training goal to work towards and do it in a way that is fun and interesting. And for those relative/y new to the Islands, this gives them the opportunity to learn about new jaunts and little getaways rarely seen by residents who have lived here for years.

Whether you choose to enter as a team or as a solo runner, this race will be one of your fitness highlights of the year and leave you feeling a sense of satisfaction and fulfilled,” he said.

This year, the proceeds from Off the Beaten Track will go towards supporting the efforts of the YMCA Cayman Islands, a charitable, cause-driven, non-profit organization that strengthens the community through a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Race Director, Anna Keating said they are proud to be able to support such an amazing local charity. “Off the Beaten Track’s mission is to help support the continued growth of our local community and we are excited to have the YMCA on board as this year’s beneficiary,” Keating said. Major sponsors for the race include KRyS Global, Brown Rudnick, Tower and Mourant Ozannes.

Corporate sponsorship is still available and volunteers are welcome. For more information visit www.offthebeatentrack.ky or contact [email protected] or call 525-8824.
