Innovation is vital to every company, and business owners & entrepreneurs must know how to adapt to the ever-changing business climate.
Bearing this in mind, the Chamber of Commerce recently held a pair of workshops focussing on Managing Innovation.
In partnership with COSME – an EU funded initiative which provides support to SMEs in British, Dutch & French OCTs – we successfully provided support for over 30 Chamber members and local business owners.
Innovation expert, Leopoldo Colombo, facilitated the sessions, imparting his knowledge during both workshops. Leopoldo not only provided a succinct overview of what innovation is and why it is necessary for business, but also went into greater detail on the following topics:
• Techniques to enhance creativity;
• Where innovation can be implemented;
• Processes for innovation implementation;
• Innovation principles; and much more.
When asked on the usefulness of the full-day workshop, local business owner Roz Griffiths (Chatterbox Ltd.) commented:
“The COSME workshop provided a helpful framework to be able to plan for innovation, which is typically perceived as a potentially chaotic process. By understanding more about what innovation means and how it links with creating value, we identified tools for creating an innovation management system. Successful businesses need to be able to innovate and being exposed to strategies to actually plan for this was incredibly thought-provoking.”
The Chamber of Commerce has been working closely with COSME, with Chamber CEO Wil Pineau, CCE, visiting the Netherlands, Aruba and Turks & Caicos to find out more about the programme.
