BritCay Utilisation of Health City Cayman Islands Services

The following is a message from Health City Cayman Islands.

Dear Valued Health Partner,

RE: BritCay utilization of Health City Cayman Islands services

We are aware that you may have received a letter from BritCay informing you that your employees will, at the present time, not be able to access non-cardiac services at Health City Cayman Islands.

In this context, we would like to clarify the following: Health City, since its very inception, has been providing exceptional services and outcomes in every specialty that has been established. This is evidenced by the increasing numbers of both Caymanian patients who have opted to have their care on-island as well as the increasingly large number of patients in every specialty who are coming down to Cayman from Canada, the USA, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Furthermore, we have had third party validation of all of our services – both those that we started at the beginning and those that were established later, by the Joint Commission International.

We are one of only two hospitals in the whole region who have received this prestigious accreditation. Also, we would like to reiterate that we are in full compliance with every government imposed regulation in the Cayman Islands as evidenced by the Health Practice Commission (HPC) accreditation of our services. The credentials of all of our doctors and their services are available freely on the HPC website.

We would also direct you to our website www.healthcity.ky, where there are numerous testimonials from very happy patients from all around the world.

The communication that you received from BritCay was sent out unilaterally without informing Health City. We believe that this is driven by considerations other than patient welfare. This policy decision by BritCay could have a negative impact on patients with regard to convenience, ancillary expenses, and the safety of their health.

In addition, the communication contains a number of factual errors.

- That the contract that we had with BritCay specified only cardiac services. The contract we have with BritCay contains no such reference.

- That Health City underwent a BritCay-specific credentialing process for cardiac services. We are unaware of any credentialing process or quality assessment that was done by BritCay on cardiology services as they have claimed. (Once again we meet all local regulations and laws and quality standards.)

- Nowhere in our contract is Health City bound to undertake a credentialing and quality review as stated by BritCay. This is no way means we are unhappy to do this, but we were informed of this only three days prior to the communication being sent out by BritCay. Every piece of information that BritCay requested of Health City was sent within two days.

We want to assure you we are working in good faith and hoping to ensure that your employees have access to our world renowned services.

You may contact both myself ([email protected]) and/or Marketing Director Shomari Scott ([email protected]) if you have any other questions.

We want to assure you that irrespective of all of this, in the interim, patient care remains our highest priority and we will not let this affect the care of any patient once on our premises.

In partnership and cooperation,

Dr. Chandy Abraham.
CEO & Directory of Medical Services.
