Leadership Cayman Class Tour Fairbanks Immigration Detention Centre

The 2017 Leadership Cayman class were invited on a tour of Fairbanks Immigration Detention Centre for their latest seminar: Immigration.

Immigration is an instrumental component of business and society in the Cayman Islands, and the class set out to learn more about the challenges surrounding it, as well as how it affects the public and private sectors.

After the tour, the class attended an evening seminar held at Walkers, where they heard from the following guest speakers:

• Deputy Governor, Hon. Franz Manderson, Head of Civil Service

• President/CEO of Cayman Immigration Consultant Services Ltd., Sabrina Turner

• Acting Assistant Chief Immigration Officer (Border Control), Rodney Parchment

Since 2009, the Leadership Cayman programme has seen business leaders learn more about the community and the different industries & services that affect it. The programme has seen hundreds of graduates give back to society in a positive way, and the annual group project has proved beneficial to numerous community members and charitable institutions.

The Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all guest speakers for their participation in the seminar.

The Chamber would also like to thank Gianna Bryan and Prasana for serving as moderators, and Isaac Espinoza for serving as the seminar’s mentor.

Leadership Cayman is proudly supported by Cox Lumber, and the Immigration seminar was proudly sponsored by KPMG.

The next seminar will take place on April 19 and will focus on the Cayman Islands Government.
