Dept. of Children and Family Services Asks Community To Step Up

The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) in gearing up for Child Month this May is asking for community support.

While a host of activities and events is being finalised by the Agency, DCFS is also asking that local offices, schools, churches and clubs organise their own events to mark the celebration.

“Child Month is a very important celebration for us and by extension the community as a whole. It’s a chance for us to highlight issues affecting children and to encourage families, parents, teachers and others that are in caregiving roles to focus on these needs and ensure that we prioritise them,” said DCFS Director, Felicia Robinson.

“We strongly encourage organisations, schools, churches and groups of individuals to host family and child-centred activities and hope that during this month businesses will also consider offering discounts for children.

The DCFS is also encouraging Child Month activity organisers to like the Department of Children and Family Services Facebook page and post pictures of their events on the Department’s Facebook page throughout May.
