Celebrating 10 Years of Caymanian Talent

For a decade, The Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA) has hosted its annual gala – an evening full of local accounting talent. 2017 marks their 10th year of continuing this yearly tradition, and is to be known as the Diamond Gala.

Each year, awards are presented to newcomers to the industry, with the gala typically serving as a ‘welcome ceremony’ to those who have recently attained either a professional accounting designation, or an accounting degree. It has been expanded to also include a celebration of member achievements – last year saw the inclusion of a “Pioneer Award” – awarded to Dr Linford Pierson for being a trailblazer in Cayman’s history of accounting. This year, the institute will introduce two additional awards – the Rising Star award, and the Outstanding Member award.

CIIPA is currently seeking nominees for the Pioneer, Rising Star, and Outstanding Member awards. Members of the public are encouraged visit CIIPA’s website, www.ciipa.ky, where they may download and fill in nomination forms for submission. All submissions should be emailed to Tallyn McTaggart at [email protected]. The event will take place at the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa on 30 September 2017. The gala is annually attended by members of the financial services industry, event sponsors, government officials, as well as the honourees and their families.

The gala was originally launched in 2008 by CIIPA to celebrate major milestones for young Caymanians in accounting. Funds raised at the event go toward the ongoing development of Caymanians in the profession, which include training, membership and educational opportunities.
