With election campaigns well underway, the most recent Leadership Cayman seminar – Cayman Islands Government – was more pertinent than ever.

Members of the 2017 class spent the afternoon touring both the port of George Town and the Legislative Assembly Building before heading to the Government Administrative Building for the evening seminar.

The sixth seminar of the programme year gave class members an opportunity to meet members of the Legislative Assembly, and discuss current issues surrounding the governmental process here in the Islands.

The class members had the privilege of hearing from numerous guest speakers, including:

• Ms. Sue Winspear, CPFA

• Mrs. Gloria McField-Nixon, JP

• Mr. Robert Lewis, MSc, MURP

“I’m happy to have participated, and it’s clear that this year’s class has their finger on the pulse of topical issues,” said Mrs. McField-Nixon. “I found the questions to be very informative and the discussion to be highly engaging.”

Mr. Lewis added: “This is an excellent programme for present and future leaders. The networking opportunities are incomparable. Also, the diversity of experiences bought together by this programme is sure to enrich all participants.”

The class will next meet on Wednesday, May 3 for the seminar entitled ‘Human Services & Health Care.’

The Chamber would like to thank the guest speakers for attending, Nancy Barnard for serving as the seminar’s mentor, and Osbert Francis & Anya Edun for serving as moderators.

The Chamber would also like to thank Cox Lumber for their support of the programme by serving as the title sponsor.
