Managing Partner, Bryan Hunter, said, “Throughout the years, Appleby has been consistently recognised as a leading firm in Cayman. These rankings once again demonstrate the depth of knowledge and expertise across our practice groups, with several of our practitioners receiving high commendations for numerous years.”

The Corporate and Finance and Dispute Resolution practices once again achieved high rankings with the top ranking going to the Property Finance team; a “powerhouse with a leading practice”. Sources have said “in the real estate area, it's definitely a top-tier firm…it has no weak points as a property team, and is capable of working on complex matters on a practical basis", acknowledging Normal Klein as a “leading light in the field of real estate” and Adam Johnson as a “very thorough practitioner" with "the expertise to handle complex matters”. The rankings also spoke highly of the “very capable and attentive” dispute resolution team and recognised Peter McMaster QC as “a solid choice of representation in commercial litigation” and Tony Heaver-Wren for being “a good presenter in court who argues well and effectively”.

It was noted that the firm is "particularly strong on the trust litigation side" led by Carlos de Serpa Pimentel who is a celebrated trust disputes lawyer and was rated as a "particularly excellent" practitioner by peers. In the Corporate and Finance area, the firm is widely respected in the market as a "top-notch" commercial practice. One source affirmed: "I trust the team completely to deliver to timelines, advise on salient points and to work with me to provide innovative solutions to complex problems." Highly regarded practitioners in this area include Simon Raftopoulos, a “brilliant lawyer” who maintains a high standing in the market for his substantial M&A and finance practice, as well as Benjamin Woolf, a structured finance expert and “smart lawyer who works tirelessly for his clients' interests."
