Leadership Cayman (LC) recently visited the Central Police Station and the Law Courts as part of their fourth seminar that focused on the Cayman Islands Criminal Justice system. This seminar was organised by programme participants Caine Smith and Peter Somerville and mentored by Wilbur Welcome, a 2015 graduate of Leadership Cayman.
The purpose of this seminar was to gain a better understanding of the how the criminal justice system functions as well as the challenges faced by those involved. The LC group was given a tour of the Central Police Station and the consensus of the group was that the tour enlightened all of the conditions under which the members of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) carry out their daily duties. The seminar then continued at The Courthouse where participants interacted with Director of Public Prosecutions Cheryll Richards, Commissioner of Police David Baines, and Deputy Director of Prisons Daniel Greaves.
