Trade & Business Licensing Law meeting held

Paul Pearson (March 2016)-300Over 45 people attend the public meeting to discuss the new Trade and Business Licensing Law on Thursday, 31 March from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Town Hall in George Town.

The session focused on health and pension requirements. Representatives from the Department of Commerce and Investment, Health Commission and Pensions Office were present to answer questions. Chamber President Paul Pearson was in attendance and delivered some opening remarks.

Mr. Pearson stated that “the Chamber has advocated for a revised Trade and Business Licensing Law and small business incentives for many years and has called for increased enforcement for businesses that fail to comply with licensing laws and the National Pensions and Health Insurance Laws.”

“With any new law, however, there will always be a period of adjustment to the changes introduced so this meeting is an important step in obtaining feedback and assessing what is working and what may need to be revised.” He added
