Although they’ve only been a member since 2014, Lobster Pot Restaurant have been an active member, getting involved in a handful of programmes and events run by the Chamber of Commerce.
Most recently, they donated gift certificates to be won in raffles during our Membership Information and Chamber Information Sessions, and provided a mouth-watering dinner for a Leadership Cayman seminar.
The restaurant also buys fish on a daily basis from local fisherman, ensuring that their dishes are of an excellent quality, and supporting other local businesses and labourers in the process.
We spoke to the Restaurant Manager, Jens Pankalla, and asked him a few questions about the business and the Chamber membership.
Q: What do you enjoy most about managing a restaurant?
A: I enjoy most the interaction with our customers and the challenges that come with the business. We are proud of all our repeat customers and enjoy meeting new guests every day. I also enjoy having a great team of very motivated and energetic people. Having great staff makes all the difference and the Lobster Pot team is one of the best I have ever worked with.
Q: What is your favourite dish off the Lobster Pot Menu?
A: When it comes to my favourite dish, I would have to say it is the Lobster Pot Favourite – the Cayman Trio. It includes all the favourites, from a Broiled Lobster Trail, Mahi Mahi Filet, and Garlic Shrimps. Served with Rice & Beans and the Chef’s Vegetables, and not to forget the ever delicious Plantains. If you like the freshest fish also consider the Catch of the Day.
Q: What advice would you give to those wanting to start and run their own restaurant?
A: Love what you do! Opening and running a successful restaurant is one of the toughest and most time consuming businesses. The right intentions, a solid business plan, great marketing, and motivated staff will make your passion a reality.
Q: Why would you recommend joining the Chamber Membership?
A: I can recommend joining the Chamber of Commerce to all businesses in Cayman. The networking events, fundraisers, and workshops are a great way of connecting local business owners. The Chamber of Commerce has a very good reputation and many customers have a positive perception of members and member businesses. An added bonus for Chamber members are the offered discounts on everything, from office supplies to continuing education.
