Meet Our Member: Cayman Islands Yellow Pages

Yellow Pages LL Eileen

We've all been there. Whether it's trying to find out what to have for dinner one night, or whether it's hunting for the right repair company to fix a problem at the house, we've all needed to flick through a directory to complete our mission. And no directory is as recognisable as the Yellow Pages.

The Cayman Islands Yellow Pages are a useful tool for absolutely everyone throughout the Islands, with their paper directories ready and waiting in hosueholds and in offices, and their website being but a mere few clicks away from solving your problems.

They are also an active and engaging member of the Chamber of Commerce, having most recently signed up as the headline sponsor for our 2016 Legislative Luncheon on October 19, a fact that we grateful and wholeheartedly thankful for.

As a further thanks, we thought we'd invite them to take part in this week's "Meet Our Member" section, and we caught up with their Marketing Manager Eileen Keens and asked her some questions about the future of the Yellow Pages, what attracted them to our events, and why joining the Chamber Membership is beneficial.

Q: How has the evolution of technology shaped the way the Yellow Pages conducts business?

A: We’ve had to adapt! Historically our core business has been print based, so we’re under tremendous pressure to keep up with trends in technology and introduce new products accordingly. However, this presents us with an incredible opportunity to broaden our audience reach, especially now that our audience is becoming increasingly demanding, diverse and younger, so it’s imperative that we are meeting all of their needs. We may now be living in a digital world, but our print directory is still very much in demand and valued by our users. Our new app has also been well received by the Cayman market;, its features like flight arrival/departure updates, movies and geo-coding have proved to be hugely popular.

Q: Do you have any new and exciting developments lined up for the Yellow Pages?

A: 2017 will be the year of yellow in a big way. We’ve enhanced the look, feel and utility of the 2017 Yellow Pages Directory through a new editorial strategy, design and layout so the directory offers the customer a more valuable brand experience that in turn will be projected into our digital and mobile platforms. We’re all about local and advocating members of our community; this will be especially prevalent in the artwork and photography of local artists that we will showcase in the print directory, and the editorial articles we will feature on our websites. Without revealing too many secrets, watch this space, as we are going to be launching significant products in 2017.

Q: What attracted you to sponsor the Legislative Luncheon?

A: At Yellow Pages we focus on connecting residents with local businesses by offering a wide range of services and products; therefore our support to this initiative is very important since this event provides an opportunity for Chamber members to establish relationships with key decision makers and voice opinions on different issues moving forward.

Q: Why would you recommend joining the Chamber Membership?

A: There are numerous benefits for joining the local Chamber of Commerce but we would like to highlight the fact that consumers are more likely to do business with a company if it’s a member of their local Chamber. Another advantage is that members will also be informed and kept up to date about important issues and trends within their community and local marketplace. We not only encourage local businesses to join the Chamber, but to be active members and participate in their events in order to make their voices heard and help shape the local business landscape.
