The Chamber’s next luncheon, to be held at the Wharf Restaurant from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday August 8th, is being devoted to discussing the country’s disaster preparedness plan and to announce the establishment of an economic continuity subcommittee. This subcommittee, chaired by Chamber CEO Mr. Wil Pineau, will be responsible for developing appropriate plans for preparedness and continuity of operations by businesses, ensuring access to appropriate local weather related information and warnings and facilitating the immediate response to businesses impacted by a severe weather system.
Representatives from all industry sectors are invited to attend this event and to learn how you can get involved. Mr. Donovan Ebanks, Chairman of the National Hurricane Committee, will provide members with an update on the plans that have been put in place in the event of a major disaster striking the Cayman Islands. He will discuss the purpose of the Economic Continuity Subcommittee and the important role that it will play in the preparation of a national plan that will be implemented following any disaster.
All businesses will be invited to complete a survey to confirm the names of the person(s) in your organisation who has been assigned responsibility for disaster planning and economic continuity. This information will help to create a master database that can be used to contact businesses leading up to and in the aftermath of any major incident.
