Event Description: The National Trust for the Cayman Islands is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year with a Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours on Thursday 18th October from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at its location in the Dart Family Park, South Church Street.

Chamber members, members of the National Trust and guests are invited to attend this special event to show support for the islands’ leading conservation organisation and the only organisation that can hold land in perpetuity for future generations in the Cayman Islands. Members and guests will be able to take a tour of the National Trust’s head office and will be treated to some great prizes and giveaways including a complimentary voucher for each guest to dive Divetech’s new location in West Bay– the newest shorediving site on island. Raffle prizes include a gift vouchers for The Camera Store, signed copies of the latest edition of the “Wild Trees in the Cayman Islands” book, blue iguana t-shirts, iguana bobbleheads and more.

The National Trust has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce since 1993, and has been involved in many Chamber events and programmes. Chamber CEO Wil Pineau commented “the National Trust is a great pioneer for conservation in Cayman. Their educational and environmental programmes are to be commended, and their dedication to preserving Cayman’s history can be seen in the many heritage properties that they look after.” Mr. Pineau went on to say, “I hope to see a large turnout for the National Trust Business After Hours. Every person who lives here should become involved in protecting and preserving our heritage and natural resources by supporting the National Trust.”

The National Trust is a not-for-profit organization that aims "to preserve natural environments and places of historic significance in the Cayman Islands for present and future generations." They offer several historical, educational and environmental programmes for the community to learn more about our islands’ heritage and natural beauty. The newly reconstructed Mission House in Bodden Town offers tours everyday of the house and grounds, and tours are also scheduled every month for Hiking The Mastic Trail, Bird Watching, Bat Watching, Mangrove Tours and more. “We offer a range of programmes including guided historic and nature walking tours, heritage classes, staff training and presentations and field trips to our many sites, not to mention the Blue Iguana Recovery Programme facility. One of our goals is to educate the public on the historic and environmental aspects of the Cayman Islands and the importance of conserving these for future generations” said Miss Caroline Key, Development & Marketing Manager for the National Trust. “This Business After Hours event is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate what we do and how our organisation can benefit the community and local businesses. We have many projects, programmes and activities on offer and we are looking forward to seeing our members and welcoming new ones!” she added.

This month, in addition to their monthly activities, the National Trust is hosting a Halloween special for children focusing on Spooky Caymanian Traditions. For adults and children alike the Trust is also offering a ‘Happy Halloween’ bat fly-out on October 31st.
