This 2-day course is designed to help people improve their skills in speaking before a group or on a one to one basis. It is designed to quickly increase the comfort level and confidence of participants in a variety of speaking situations.

STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF A TALK
- Review the basic structure of a talk that includes: an opening that catches the listener’s attention, content that creates a visual impact and a final restatement of your key points.
- Gain an understanding of the different impacts that you can create from a single topic.
- Learn to use pitch, pace, projection and pauses during your talk.
- Learn to generate enthusiasm when you speak.
- Learn the magic of visual stories, inspirational quotes and real life experiences to enliven your talk.
- Learn if you should use humour and when it is appropriate.
PRACTICE SESSIONS IN MAKING PRESENTATIONS
- Practice your ability to communicate in group meetings.
- Practice being persuasive.
- Participate in a discussion where you convince others of your point of view.
- Participate in sessions to test your ability to think on your feet.
- Present a longer talk on a topic of your choice.
- Learn how to introduce a speaker.
