This course will provide participants with an introduction to third-party mediation, specifically as it relates to resolving workplace conflict. Particular focus will be placed on determining where mediation fits with other conflict management procedures, different ways in which mediation can be useful, and circumstances favorable to using mediation in the workplace.

The one day course is intended for anyone who is in a position to help manage conflict in the workplace including but not limited to:

- Executives who are responsible for managing change or transforming organisations.
- Staff who regularly have contact with the general public.

- Where does mediation fit with other procedures: An overview of the dispute resolution continuum.
- An introduction to the different stages of the mediation model including core mediation skills and strategies.
- Using mediation as part of organizational grievance procedures for resolving interpersonal disputes, managing team disputes and handling customer complaints.
- Exploring potential barriers to mediation.
- The use of external mediators.
- Including mediation in EAPs.
- Using mediation skills across your organisation – training managers and staff.
- Conflict Coaching as an alternative to mediation – What to do if only one party is willing to mediation.
