Event Description:

COMMUNICATING EFFECTIVELY is a 2-day course designed to increase the power of communication for each participant. Every day you have the power to choose how and what you say to others. Your words, your tone, your sincerity and the intensity of what you say all contribute to add power to your communication. Words can heal, motivate persuade, entertain and bring immeasurable joy to others.

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS

  • Learn how to use probing questions to learn the needs and interests of customers, fellow employees and friends.
  • Participate in a fun exercise that improves your ability to remember names.
  • Participate in a discussion where you exchange opinions on controversial topics without giving offense or losing the respect of others.
  • Learn how to observe and comment on the strengths that you see in others.
  • Participate in a group meeting to solve a common problem.
  • Learn several decision-making skills.

PRACTICING COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Learn how to generate enthusiasm when you speak.
  • Understand the difference between being aggressive and being assertive.
  • Participate in a role play session to test your assertiveness.
  • Review the words to use and the steps to take to motivate others to action.
  • Learn how to share a strength you observe in other people
  • Learn how to handle discipline proceedings that create a win/win environment.
  • Participate in sessions to test your ability to think on your feet.
  • Explore listening; body language and other communication tools.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • The skills to be comfortable in speaking to any group
  • How to earn the respect of others through your words and deeds.

INSTRUCTOR

Terry Carson, CA, CMA is an audit partner in the firm of Grant Thornton in Grand Cayman and has been a Senior Financial Officer in various businesses for the past 19 years. He has been presented with many awards in both public speaking and finance and has provided training throughout Canada and the Caribbean.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Cancellations must be received in writing 72 hours prior to the course in order to obtain a refund. No shows will be charged the full amount.
