Event Description:

Tourism is important, and vital for many countries.It has direct effects on the social, cultural, educational and economic sectors of national societies and on their international relations.  Tourism creates opportunities for employment in the service sector of the economy, which includes:
transportation services, such as airlines, cruise ships and taxicabs;
food and beverage services, such as restaurants, food delivery services, outlets;
hospitality services, such as accommodations, including hotels and resorts; and
entertainment venues, such as amusement parks, diving, tours, shopping malls, music venues, theatres and service providers such as photographers, event planners, JP’s, marriage officers;
medical tourism services, such as clinics, hospitals, doctors, nurses and the list is vast as to all the businesses and professionals in a society that benefit from all facets of Tourism.

This two hour introductory course offers professional insights into key issues relating to Tourism Development: Fundamentals of Destination Management and Marketing. Participants will get a clearer understanding of various terms, vital sales and marketing tools and strategies used in tourism development and the important fundamentals that depend on intertwined relationships involving hosts, guests, suppliers and consumers, as well as complex networks of residents, government officials, CVB leaders and employees.  Case studies from three regions, Canada, United Kingdom and Dubai will also be discussed.

Nadia Brown-Fagan, B.Sc, SAC, NCFE honours has been heralded as a dynamic leadership hospitality and tourism educator in multiple fields. She has for the past 14 years given international representation in top sales leadership positions and to several of Ritz-Carlton’s Company LLC’s locations for approximately a decade to the US, European and Middle Eastern travel market, meeting incentive power houses, tourism travel wholesalers, individual travelers and major Fortune 500 corporations such AFLAC, SONY, MERRILL LYNCH, NOVARTIS and many others. She was a past honouree of the prestigious Chairman Circle Award of the Ritz-Carlton Corporation for highest achievement in Sales. Recognized also by the Corporate Leadership Centre in Washington, D. C. and engaged in training and development of others to be the best in hospitality. Nadia also through her career went on to be the Director of Business Sales in the hospitality events field for a number of years in the Cayman Islands. She has been certified and licensed as a recognized international consultant for Corporate Business Development, Hospitality Tourism and Travel and also by renowned Global Hospitality (GHBC) whose partners are Fortune 500 company Talent + headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska and also Executech Hospitality Solutions, Wine Quest, Boxerbrand and internationally accredited business, training partners and hospitality educational institutions worldwide.

Nadia holds a Bachelor of Sciences honours degree in International Relations and Psychology, Distinction Award from NCFE UK, Global Scientific Talent and Human Capital Analyst, Career Counselor, Sales Leadership Certifications and Awards, International Business and Contract Law training (University of London), Marketing Strategy Experience. Her experience is vast from Destination Tourism and Partnerships, Customer Service, Sales Skills, Hospitality Leadership Trainer, Cayman Accommodations Specialist. She is set to receive a number of further qualifications in education in 2012 and has her sights set on achieving the LLM in International Business UK.
Nadia is now gearing her full focus towards the education and development of the Cayman Islands for the hospitality, tourism and business sectors and sees this as paramount for the success of the Cayman Islands, the careers of its’ people, residents and the business community. She enjoys motivational speaking, mentoring and assisting various charitable and youth development organizations and its leaders on island.
