Cayman’s best brands, marketing campaigns and industry professionals were honoured at the Cayman Islands Marketing Professionals Association’s (“CIMPA”) 2018 Marketing Awards Gala, which took place on Friday, June 22nd, at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort. The event brought together the island's leading creators and providers for an unforgettable night of industry networking and celebration of local marketing excellence.

The annual Marketing Awards recognised some of the best local marketing campaigns from 2017 and celebrated the creativity, innovation and talent of the Islands' marketing teams and individuals. This year’s Awards were comprised of nine categories and the winners were as follows:

• Brand of the Year: Anchor & Den

• Website/App of the Year: Anchor & Den

• Campaign of the Year: Property Cayman

• Community Impact of the Year: “The Griffin Christmas Card” by Wall Creations

• Video of the Year: “This is Cayman” by Vagabond Media Group

• Creative Professional of the Year: Delano Myers (Tower Marketing)

• Rising Star of the Year: Sophie Prior (Lustic Life)

• Marketer of the Year: Kirsty MacGeoch (Tower Marketing)

• Agency of the Year: Vagabond Media Group

“Congratulations to all of the shortlisted nominees and thanks to all those who submitted work in what was a record-breaking year for entries.” Catherine Healy, CIMPA Chair, said.

A record number of over fifty submissions across nine categories were judged by five international judges: Cory Williams, Integrated Marketing Manager at No Cow; Mark McCulloch, Founder and Group CEO at We Are Spectacular; Christopher Neff, Senior Director of Innovation at the community; Tara Lubonovich, Design Consultant; and Stuart Hall, Agency Director or Avviso Media. Each application was scored according to a judging matrix and marked on four main categories: impact; engagement; innovation; and differentiation.

Two new categories were added to the awards this year to recognize the impact of local marketing campaigns on our community and to celebrate the creative professionals in the industry.

“This entire experience has been a real journey for me.” Delano Myers, the winner of the Creative Professional of the Year award, said. “I’m truly humbled by this award, and I don’t take it for granted one bit. It is validation for all the hard work already done and encouragement to keep learning and plotting new goals to strive for.”

The coveted Agency of the Year award was taken home by Vagabond Media Group, who were also awarded in the Video of the Year category for their “This is Cayman” showreel.

“Vagabond Media Group started as a couple of laptops at a kitchen table, to two years later having produced almost 1,000 videos in 10 different countries for more than 100 clients!” Monica Walton, Co-Founder / Managing Director at Vagabond Media Group, said.

The event was supported by a number of sponsors including Pinnacle Media, Hurley’s Media, Yello Media Group and Grey Goose, amongst others.

The association’s annual conference will take place on September 25th and 26th at Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort and will feature a well-credentialed line-up of international speakers. For more information on upcoming CIMPA events and initiatives visit www.cimpa.ky.
