Cayman Chamber represented at World Chambers Congress in Brazil

Wil Pineau and President Chris Kirkconnell at Rio Chamber ConferencePresident Chris Kirkconnell and CEO Wil Pineau, CCE represented the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce at the 11th World Chambers Congress in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 12-14th June.

The Congress attracted more than 1,000 Chamber of Commerce executives and business leaders from around the world and is the largest gathering for Chamber representatives held every two years.

The conference included plenary presentations on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, enabling a digitally enabled world, rethinking education and skills for the global economy of the future and building fair and transparent markets for all.

Finalists from various Chambers showcased their best education and training projects, the best Small to Medium Enterprise and Entrepreneurial Development projects and their best unconventional projects.

Workshops addressed small business issues, e-commerce trends, infrastructure concerns and challenges, trade facilitation, trends in global financial services, dispute resolution and blockchain. Several countries and Chambers collaborated to showcase information about investment and trade opportunities.

The next World Chambers Congress will take place in Dubai in February, 2021. "It is great to interact with colleagues from around the world and to learn best practices and trends," Pineau said. "Many of the issues that we are working to address including workforce and skills development, advancements in financial services, inward investment, sustainable growth and MSME development are similar in other Chambers. It was informative to learn how other Chambers and communities are addressing these issues."
