|
ACE Cayman welcomed Chamber members and guests to a Business After Hours on Thursday, 29th August to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the merging of Payless Auto Parts and Ace Paint and Décor into one store on 11 Ashgo Drive, in George Town. The celebration included a grand business card raffle draw, spin the wheel prizes, anniversary discount specials, food, refreshments and more. Every person who attended the event received a free spin on the wheel to win a prize. For $25, each person received an additional prize spin. All proceeds were donated to the Alex Panton Foundation. Associated Industries, Ltd., also known as AI Group, is the parent company of Parker’s, ACE, AI Rentals & Save the Date. It began in 1973 when the President and CEO, Mr. Keith Parker Tibbetts Jr., got involved in a junkyard business called Associated Industries, Ltd. After a few years he bought out his partners and changed the company’s business plan, and in 1984 he began offering new and rebuilt auto parts. This became the main business and it has grown steadily over the years becoming the leading automotive parts business on the island. In 1987 Associated Industries Ltd. became a member of Ace Hardware Corporation and added some hardware lines to its offerings. In 1994 the company added a paint store division known as ACE Paint and décor. In 1998 Associated Industries Ltd. purchased Payless Auto Parts Ltd. which was located on Eastern Avenue for over 20 years. Given the acquisition of this store and the expansion of items offered due to AIL’s affiliation with ACE. In 1999 the company decided to have Associated Industries, Ltd be known as the Parent Company and gave its main store a name and identity of its own, “Parker’s”, to reflect the changed nature of the business. Mr. Keith Parker Tibbetts Jr., Cert. Hon., CMH, will be the main speaker at this event. He was the president of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce from 1981-1983 and is the recipient of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce’s 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award in Business.
