Chamber President Woody Foster's letter to members.

Woody Foster 2020Dear Member,

The Chamber is ready to assist your business during these challenging times. You can call the Chamber office at 949-8090 if you have questions and/or information requests. In addition, we will be releasing regular email updates and posting them on the Chamber's website and social media channels.

To better measure the economic impact on your industry sector, we are asking you to complete a short survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LMNNKNZ. We will summarise the responses and share the results with the policy makers. Council members have been meeting regularly with the Government, providing recommendations and feedback from the private sector. Chamber CEO Wil Pineau serves as the chair of the Economic Continuity subcommittee for the Support Services cluster under the National Emergency Operations Centre and he provides the Council with regular updates and shares updates with the group.

Representatives from the supermarkets and major importers met over the weekend and assured Cabinet Ministers that there has been no major interruption in
food, medicines and essential supplies to the islands and there is sufficient stock in storage for several weeks. There are global shortages in sanitary supplies and the merchants will do their best to stock shelves when these arrive. Due to demand purchase limitations will be placed by some supermarkets on these items.

If you have not already done so, businesses are urged to allow non essential staff who are able to work remotely to do so immediately. This will help to stop the spread of the virus in the community. Businesses that are planning on closing should assist their employee on a permit to leave the island before Sunday March 22nd.
