DCI Appoints Head of Business Services and Licensing

Jessica Pawlik (002)The Department of Commerce and Investment (DCI) announces the recent appointment of Jessica Pawlik as Head of Business Services and Licensing.

Ms. Pawlik will be responsible for managing and guiding the operations of the trade and business licensing, special economic zone, tobacco permits, cinema and liquor licences sections of the Department. In addition to assisting the Director of DCI with all aspects of budgeting and strategic planning for the Department, she will also be involved in the development and monitoring of its online platforms for all licence types.

Ms. Pawlik’s career as a civil servant with the Cayman Islands Government has spanned some twelve years with the Department of Tourism (DoT) where she garnered experience in product development, licensing processes and policy drafting. She has held several posts at DoT including as Marketing Assistant, Product Development Officer for Licensing and Inspections as well as Manager, Tourism Product Development.

She holds a Master of Arts degree in Strategic Communication from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications at the University of South Florida. She has also completed professional development courses in several areas including supervisory management, project management and customer service.

Director of DCI, Ryan Rajkumarsingh stated that the members of the Department are delighted to have Ms. Pawlik as part of the team. “Jessica brings a wealth of experience in process improvement and customer service that will enhance the work of DCI while we continue to deliver service excellence,” he said.

Chief Officer in the Ministry of Commerce, Planning and Infrastructure Alan Jones welcomed Ms. Pawlik to the team noting, “As DCI continues to provide world-class services, we are pleased to have a young Caymanian with talent and drive who is committed to furthering the Department’s goals to provide business licensing services to various sectors, ensuring compliance with local commerce legislation and local and international standards”.

In commenting on her appointment Ms. Pawlik said, “I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve the civil service of the Cayman Islands in this new role as the Head of Business Services and Licensing with DCI. It is evident that the team in this department are committed and dedicated to serving the Cayman Islands community and I look forward to achieving great things together”.
