Marketing industry professionals honoured at the 2020 CIMPA Awards

Cayman’s best brands, marketing campaigns and industry professionals were honoured at the Cayman Islands Marketing Professionals Association’s (“CIMPA”) 2020 Marketing Awards Gala, which took place on Friday, October 2nd, at the Kimpton Seafire Resort. The event brought together the island's leading creators and agencies for an unforgettable night of industry networking and celebration of local marketing excellence.

The 5th Annual Marketing Awards recognised some of the best local marketing campaigns from 2019 and celebrated the creativity, innovation and talent of the Islands' marketing teams and individuals. This year’s Awards were comprised of nine categories and the winners were as follows:

    · Community Impact of the Year: Enterprise Cayman (Cayman Enterprise City)
    · Brand of the Year: Foster’s
    · Rising Star of the Year: Kerry Glanfield (Not Your Standard)
    · Video of the Year: “Welcome to Our House” by AirVu Media for Sunset House
    · Campaign of the Year: Foster’s
    · Creative Professional of the Year: Damien Murphy (AirVu Media)
    · Marketer of the Year: Harriet Moon (Not Your Standard)
    · Agency of the Year: Lustic Media
    · People’s Choice Award: “Muzey” (Cayman Islands National Museum)

Over thirty submissions across eight categories were judged by a panel of international judges, with each application scored according to a judging matrix.

Local Agency AirVu Media were among the lucky winners on the night, taking home the Video of the Year award and Creative Professional of the Year.

“I’m absolutely ecstatic to be recognised as Creative Professional of the Year 2020 and to pick up Video of the Year for our work with Sunset House.” Damien Murphy, Creative Professional of the Year winner, said.

“There really were some great entries this year. A lot of hard work goes into everything I do, and to have a great small team here at AirVu Media to bounce off of, makes my job so much more enjoyable. The variety of my job is really the highlight for me, and I can’t wait to see what next year brings.”

One new category was added to the line-up this year, the People’s Choice Award, which was opened up for voting by local industry professionals.

“We introduced the People’s Choice Award category as a fun way for members of our local marketing industry to vote for their “Best Of” for the year to date.” Mrs. Natalie Porter, Vice-Chair, CIMPA, said.

“This was a great opportunity for CIMPA to recognise some of the fantastic work that we have seen coming out of the COVID situation this year.”

Brian Watler Jr, Cayman Islands National Museum’s PR, Media & Design Specialist, was delighted to hear that their mascot, Muzey, had been selected for the 2020 People’s Choice Award.

“It means so much to us at the Cayman Islands National Museum to have our work recognized and we appreciate it tremendously.” Mr Watler said.

The event was supported by a number of sponsors including Hurley’s Media, Janet Jarchow Photography, Heritage Holdings, Composed Media and Cayman Distributors Group, amongst others.

The Association’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Friday 4th December and the CIMPA Board are putting a call out for local marketing professionals that are interested in volunteering for the Association or becoming a Board Member in 2021 to get in touch with them.
